Bespoke Manufacturing

Railtec Engineering is our UK based manufacturer and can trace its beginnings back to 1898 with the formation of Firth Bros.

Based in Mapplewell near Barnsley, our purpose-built premises comprise 1¼ acres of open storage but more importantly 1240 square-meters of covered fabrication and manufacturing facilities. Offering a full bespoke build, repair and refurbishment option to customers owned equipment. Our full range of Road Plates, Gate Systems, Crane and Forklift accessories for our hire fleet are also manufactured and serviced here.

Railtec Engineering specialises also in the manufacture of bespoke one-off and small-batch steel fabrications for construction, engineering and many other light and heavy industries. At the Railtec workshop, we are capable of undertaking general engineering fabrications of up to 10 tonnes in any one piece, backed up by the machines in our capacity list.

Here our engineers and fabricators can construct products to specific detail from design drawings or CAD. If you are unable to provide drawings then we can assist with all aspects of this in our design office.

We are well known for the fabrication of bespoke sculptures and artistic structures. Working with the client the whole project can be carried out from concept through to build and install. The installation of our products takes place on-site with the minimum disruption to the client. Our wealth of experience means we can handle a multitude of different types of installations, big or small, and we will ensure that these are always fitted and installed in accordance with all current safety legislation.

Examples of our bespoke manufacturing work

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

Working with the RNLI on the manufacture of launching trailers, slipway bogies or Davit Arm systems to launch lifeboats of various sizes. We have also stripped down and refurbished trailers to as new condition. Working with trailers in constant contact with corrosive sea water proves challenging however all trailers are returned in top condition and employed as part of the RNLI life saving service.

We have both the facilities and expertise to refurbish equipment to virtually its original condition. Find out more by following the link below.
